A two-year-old boy, Yahaya Salihu, has been electrocuted at Bokkwato
quarters in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
It was also gathered that the incident happened after a heavy downpour,
which resulted to the fall of electric poles.
Father of the deceased, Malam Yahaya, revealed that his son mistakenly
stepped on a naked electric cable wires, which fell down as a result of
heavy downpour.

2 ) One Killed, as Soldiers, Policemen Repel Bandits' Attack on Plateau
Community A riot policeman was killed, following an attack by suspected
herdsmen on Miango community of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau
State, which was repelled by a combined team of soldiers and policemen, as
over 200 farmers were saved. The Chairman of Miango Youths Development
Association in the council area, Mr. Nuhu Nkali, confirmed the development
in Jos. Nkali said that a riot police officer identified as Mr. Abdul, was
however not lucky, as he died a few hours later following complications he
suffered as a result of the incident. He said that trouble started when
the farmers who were mostly youths were working on a community farm in
Miango community when over 100 cows belonging to the Fulani invaded the
farm.
3) Gas Explosion Kills Three, Destroys Nine Shops In Lagos State
Three yet-to-be -identified persons died during an explosion at a shop on
Asafariogun Street, in the Ajao area of Lagos State. It was gathered that
the explosion started from a panel beater’s workshop. The Director-General
of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu,
said three bodies were recovered from the scene, adding that two persons
were injured.
4) Father, Stepmother Torture Six-Year-Old Ogun Girl With
Nails A six-year-old girl has been hospitalised after her father, Taiwo
Onabanjo, and stepmother, Abimbola, allegedly tortured her with nails at
their residence in Ijagba, in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun
State. It was reported that a concerned neighbour alerted a
non-governmental organisation, Olanrewaju Omo-George Foundation, whose
representative informed the Sagamu Police Division, which mobilised
personnel to arrest the stepmother. The counsellor of the foundation,
Wemimo Adebiyi, claimed that “nail was drilled in her head. Her body has
marks of beating and lacerations.” The foundation’s supervisor,
Christopher Onuegbu, said the police also arrested the victim’s father,
adding that both Taiwo and Abimbola had been detained. While noting that
the victim had been taken to hospital for treatment, Onuegbu added that
efforts were on to locate her biological mother.

Tortured To Death During Initiation Nwali Kingsley, a 32-year-old man, was
detained at a correctional facility by an Ebonyi State Magistrate’s Court
for allegedly torturing one Nwafor Johnson to death during cult
initiation. The suspect and others at large, it was gathered, also
tortured another victim, Chigbo Ugbala, with sticks and machetes during
the act. It was gathered that while Johnson died and was thrown into the
river, Ugbala fled the initiation ground. Sources said efforts to recover
the remains of the deceased had been futile. The incident happened at
Ekeugwu-Azuinyaba Secondary School, Azuinyaba, in the Ishielu Local
