2021 JAMB registration started

 

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially begun registration of candidates for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) into tertiary institutions. The announcement came barely 48 hours after it had suspended the exercise over technical challenges of the National Identification Number (NIN). JAMB spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, in a statement yesterday, confirmed that registration had commenced in full swing. “It was only put on hold to resolve the technical hitches. Registration is now in full swing,” he said, adding that some candidates had successfully registered for the examination. The tests were originally billed for last Thursday before the suspension prompted by NIN integration hitches.

Enlisting repentant terrorists into security agencies dangerous ― Ex-AIGP Ugomuoh

ABUJA: A former Assistant Inspector of Police, AIGP, (retd), Dr. Charles Ugomuoh, Friday, condemned the government policy, which allows repentant Boko Haram terrorists to be enlisted into the security agencies, noting the practice was worrisome and dangerous.

Dr. Ugomuoh, who spoke via a statement titled “Taking a hard look at Nigeria’s continuing insecurity”, issued in Abuja, attributed the policy to series of ambushing of troops, sabotage of the operational surprise elements and loss of troops and armament occasioned the ongoing war against insurgents.

Ugomuoh charged that “The government should, therefore, reconsider its re-integration of Boko Haram elements into society especially allowing them to be enlisted into sensitive security institutions.”

Dr. Ugomuoh, who is also the Chairman, BOT, CUG Foundation, reasoned amongst other things that the rivalries within the security agencies prosecuting the war agains

5 Bad News In Nigeria This Morning, Wednesday, 29th July, 2020

These are the bad news in Nigeria this morning. May God continue to protect our lives wherever we go and also keep us from all evil. 1.TWO YEAR OLD BOY ELECTROCUTED IN JIGAWA.

A two-year-old boy, Yahaya Salihu, has been electrocuted at Bokkwato quarters in Dutse Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

It was also gathered that the incident happened after a heavy downpour, which resulted to the fall of electric poles.

Father of the deceased, Malam Yahaya, revealed that his son mistakenly stepped on a naked electric cable wires, which fell down as a result of heavy downpour.

When will the goverment do something about herdmens attacks in Nigeria? How can the government stop the issue of gas explosions that has been reoccurring nowadays?

This is getting too much....Let Federal Government please do something about these issues.

2 ) One Killed, as Soldiers, Policemen Repel Bandits' Attack on Plateau Community A riot policeman was killed, following an attack by suspected herdsmen on Miango community of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, which was repelled by a combined team of soldiers and policemen, as over 200 farmers were saved. The Chairman of Miango Youths Development Association in the council area, Mr. Nuhu Nkali, confirmed the development in Jos. Nkali said that a riot police officer identified as Mr. Abdul, was however not lucky, as he died a few hours later following complications he suffered as a result of the incident. He said that trouble started when the farmers who were mostly youths were working on a community farm in Miango community when over 100 cows belonging to the Fulani invaded the farm. 3) Gas Explosion Kills Three, Destroys Nine Shops In Lagos State Three yet-to-be -identified persons died during an explosion at a shop on Asafariogun Street, in the Ajao area of Lagos State. It was gathered that the explosion started from a panel beater’s workshop. The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said three bodies were recovered from the scene, adding that two persons were injured. 4) Father, Stepmother Torture Six-Year-Old Ogun Girl With Nails A six-year-old girl has been hospitalised after her father, Taiwo Onabanjo, and stepmother, Abimbola, allegedly tortured her with nails at their residence in Ijagba, in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State. It was reported that a concerned neighbour alerted a non-governmental organisation, Olanrewaju Omo-George Foundation, whose representative informed the Sagamu Police Division, which mobilised personnel to arrest the stepmother. The counsellor of the foundation, Wemimo Adebiyi, claimed that “nail was drilled in her head. Her body has marks of beating and lacerations.” The foundation’s supervisor, Christopher Onuegbu, said the police also arrested the victim’s father, adding that both Taiwo and Abimbola had been detained. While noting that the victim had been taken to hospital for treatment, Onuegbu added that efforts were on to locate her biological mother. 5) New Cult Member Tortured To Death During Initiation Nwali Kingsley, a 32-year-old man, was detained at a correctional facility by an Ebonyi State Magistrate’s Court for allegedly torturing one Nwafor Johnson to death during cult initiation. The suspect and others at large, it was gathered, also tortured another victim, Chigbo Ugbala, with sticks and machetes during the act. It was gathered that while Johnson died and was thrown into the river, Ugbala fled the initiation ground. Sources said efforts to recover the remains of the deceased had been futile. The incident happened at Ekeugwu-Azuinyaba Secondary School, Azuinyaba, in the Ishielu Local Government Area of the state. Thanks for reading.
